Paceman Gus Atkinson Adds to the English team's Injury Worries.

'Major setback' for the English camp as Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.

Gus Atkinson added to England's injury problems upon exiting the playing area on the second morning of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.

The right-arm seamer experienced discomfort in his left leg after the final ball in his spell during the morning session.

Team management indicated the 27-year-old had experienced "tightness" and would spend time away from the action in order to be assessed "over the next few hours".

The final Test of the series in Sydney starts on Sunday, 4 January.

England have previously lost fast bowlers Mark Wood due to knee trouble and Jofra Archer with an abdominal strain on the current trip.

A replacement bowler was added to the party as cover for Wood.

The seamer had a tough time in the opening two Tests, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.

He was dropped from the previous Test, then recalled for the fourth Test to fill the void.

Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, bagging two scalps in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs as a batsman among just a trio of teammates to reach double figures.

After bowling one over at the end of day one, he resumed for the second day's play and dismissed the nightwatchman edging to the keeper.

However, at the end of that over, he sent down a slower ball to Travis Head and immediately felt at his leg.

Gus Atkinson was recalled for the Boxing Day Test having missed of the third.
