Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a former physician stands accused of committing assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.
Details of the Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
The charging documents outline the forty-five charges comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.

Authorities are urging individuals with information to get in touch with the investigating team.
